Since I’ve had kids my biggest regret was not being able to take family vacation just them and me. Well I’ve worked seven days a week for the past three months and we’ve finally been able to go on vacation!! I must say that I enjoyed myself and it was worth every penny!
We stayed four days three nights at the Reef Resort in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. We had a suite on the 10th floor that had an awesome view. I used Booking.com and got a great rate on the suite! They also provided me with details on attractions close to us. I will use them for every trip from now. For a single mom on a tight budget they made it possible for us to take this trip.
We were seconds away from the most active part of the main strip on Ocean Blvd. The main strip on Myrtle Beach has something for everyone. I had to get the kids on the Sky Wheel! A huge Farris wheel that gives a spectacular view of Myrtle Beach.
Perhaps my favorite attraction on the strip had to be Family Fun Kingdom. It had the charm of a beachside boardwalk, old school feel of a carnival but thrill of an amusement park. It was absolutely free to get in, so if you don’t like the rides but want to spend the day with the family who is riding, you’re not wasting any money. They have deals on all day passes with unlimited rides as well as books of tickets if you only want to ride a few rides. Getting to take my kids here brought me back to my childhood. The swings, tilt a whirl, the games and energy of Family Fun Kingdom was nostalgic for me. I would go a thousand more times.
A few miles off the strip was Broadway at the Beach. Which is another boardwalk filled with fun things to do. We went to Ripley’s Aquarium and ate at the Key West Grill. At Ripley’s Aquarium we got to pet sharks and Sting Rays and travelled through the tunnel of sharks. The kids had fun petting the sea creatures and even learned the proper way to pet a Jelly Fish. Key West grill was delicious and if you ever go there I would recommend the Voodoo Juice, it’s a mommy drink only, it was strong but good.
I worked seven days a week for three months to ensure we had enough to go down there and splurge. Myrtle Beach had so many family, attraction and group deals, we got to enjoy a tremendous amount for reasonable prices. It was a family friendly environment that had something for everyone, even my 17 year old. For our first vacation I loved it and was very proud of achieving my goal. I would recommend Myrtle Beach to everyone and can’t wait to go back!!
